"Well, yes I did see "Dukes of Hazzard" this past Saturday, August 6 at 9:30pm. This film was another in a long string of Hollywood remakes as of late. And the verdict, well, this film had some enjoyable moments it just didnt have enough to sustain it the whole way through. As well, this film was directed by Jay Chandrasekhar who is a part of the comedy troupe Broken Lizard, which has brought us such films as "Club Dread" and "Super Troopers."
This film stars Seann William Scott as Bo Duke and Johnny Knoxville as Luke Duke as cousins who run rampid around their backwoods county of Hazzard in Georgia. The Dukes run moonshine for the Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson). As well, the cousins are often helped out by their female cousin, Daisy Duke (Jessica Simpson). Daisy works at the local saloon/bar. Simpson does look mighty fine in this film though.
Now, this film essentially follows the Dukes as they try to stop Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds) from turning Hazzard County into a strip mine. It seems that Hoggs "slight of hand" to cover the court date that would determine whether Hogg legally can strip mine Hazzard, is to have a famous car racer come in for the annual Hazzard county road race. Now, Burt Reynolds does the best with his performance I suppose, but he has done better such as his turn earlier this year as the prison coach in "The Longest Yard."
One of the few enjoyable scenes was when the Dukes had into Atlanta to a local college to find a former flame/friend so they can determine what kind of sample it is they found inside Hoggs safe. It was enjoyable because of the lovely ladies in those scenes, as well as the creative turn of the brothers who said they were Japanese scientists (they converted, afterall).
Overall, this film was a decent effort, but nothing special. Therefore, I shall give this film a 6/10 and a 1/4 stars."
